Description:

The Commission on Economic Development, Planning, Telecommunications, Public-Private Partnerships, and Energy shall have jurisdiction over all matters related to economic priorities aligned with economic development; planning; telecommunications; local, interstate, or international trade and commercial competition; monopolies in their various forms; the knowledge economy; strategic infrastructure projects that promote economic development, whether in the planning or construction phase; matters and situations concerning industry, commerce, telecommunications, and the economy in general; the coordination of objectives, resources, and efforts between government agencies or between the public and private sectors related to economic development; it shall review and analyze all long-term contractual agreements between a Government Entity and a non-governmental entity that are subject to the public policy established under the “Public-Private Partnerships Act”; studies and research related to the promotion of economic development, commerce, industry, and telecommunications; proposals and the formulation of the Island’s energy policy, especially those aimed at reducing dependency on fossil fuels and promoting the creation and use of organic fuels, the use of renewable energy technologies, and energy self-sufficiency; all matters concerning the Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority, including but not limited to contracts, infrastructure, operations, generation capacity, productivity, performance, costs, job creation, and rate reductions; and over any matter delegated to it by the House of Representatives of Puerto Rico or its President.
