Southern Region

Description:

The Southern Region Commission will have jurisdiction over all matters related to the socioeconomic development of Villalba, Juana Díaz, Coamo, Santa Isabel, Barranquitas, Aibonito, and Salinas; all matters related to government programs impacting the municipalities under its jurisdiction; legislative recommendations necessary to achieve solutions and achieve integrated and harmonious development in said jurisdiction; and the services provided by these municipal governments to their citizens.
Likewise, it will work in coordination with the Public Funds Oversight Commission, sharing jurisdiction over all matters related to the investigation and accountability of all allocations of state and federal funds assigned to public agencies and corporations intended to directly impact or affecting the municipalities of Villalba, Juana Díaz, Coamo, Santa Isabel, Barranquitas, Aibonito, and Salinas; any other entity that receives public funds or incentives, whether through federal allocation funds, municipal improvements, intergovernmental transfers, and specific budget allocations in its jurisdiction, whether for infrastructure, social welfare programs, community initiatives, among others that directly impact the population of the municipalities under the jurisdiction of the Commission; evaluation of the implementation of the programs for which public funds were allocated; performance audits conducted on government and municipal programs that directly impact the population under its jurisdiction, which operate programs with federal funds, emphasizing field research and the citation of regional directors of the entities that implement said funds; and on any matter delegated to him by the House of Representatives of Puerto Rico or its President.
