The Women’s Affairs Commission shall have jurisdiction over all matters related to promoting the full development of women in society, by fostering opportunities for women to have access to personal, occupational, and professional training and development processes; elevating the position of women in society by promoting efforts aimed at transforming and improving the living conditions of women in communities; achieving true equality by promoting, disseminating, and implementing a public policy of genuine gender equity; the legal and constitutional rights of women and their status or condition in society in legal, economic, political, and social aspects; discrimination against women or possible violations of their legal and constitutional rights; femicides; the needs of single mothers and their families, of young women who, due to violence, early pregnancies, or economic circumstances, among others, choose to drop out of school; of women who, due to abuse or divorce, require safe housing; of professional women who require government support for childcare and access to employment opportunities and entrepreneurial activities; and of those who require adequate access to sexual and reproductive health services, prenatal, childbirth, and postnatal care, among others; and over any matter delegated to it by the Puerto Rico House of Representatives or its President.
